Hodgkinsons Hotel in Matlock Bath, Derbyshire, England
by ceciliemo ~ November 29th, 2013. Filed under: Derbyshire, Hotels in the UK, Latest News. What a nice surprise! The lovely Hodgkinsons hotel in Matlock Bath in Derbyshire was our home for two nights this summer. The whole family went on a trip to the Peak District – and this was a true gem of a hotel. The owners, Chris and Zoe, were so nice and friendly, and the atmosphere is cosy and homey.
Original keys! Not often you find these in use nowadays.
Lovely bedrooms. I got a sneak peek into several of them – and they all have a romantic charm.
A personal touch from the owners. Sweet!
I never got bored of this view.
Charm! Vintage boxes and memorabilia in all the public rooms.
The garden was lovely, overgrown with beautiful flowers – just as I like it!
Bookings from the 18th century….
The restaurant was lovely, small, and the food was delicious. The staff was charming – and the chef had been in Norway during the military service.
And believe it or not – the hotel has it´s own cave in the backyard! Spooky for some, exiting for others!
Matlock Bath has a reputation for being chip-shop and bikers heaven, but we thought the small town had a scruffy charm – well worth a visit, even if you are not on a motorcycle.
