A romantic stay at Lysebu hotel in Oslo

by ceciliemo ~ December 30th, 2013. Filed under: Food, Hotels in Norway, Latest News, Norway, Oslo.

Lysebu is a magic place before Christmas. First weekend in December I stayed there as a part of my work writing for the Historic Hotels blog. (You can read the article in Norwegian here.) We booked the package “romantic stay”, and were not disappointed. 20 minutes drive from the centre of Oslo you find this gem of a place. In the middle of the woods near Voksenkollen. Join us, and have a look!

Engel

The hotel is decorated by famous Danish Christmas designer Jette Frølich. She arrives every year in November and stays a week for the decoration job. – She arrives with her two elves, says hotel manager Alida Vedelden.

Instant Christmas mood!

Alv

Sheer angels, fairies and elves  “watch over us ” in the windows.

Blomsterfe

One of the new products this year is this little fairy with a flower in her hand.

Blomst

A bit unusual that a flower can be a Christmas ornament? I agree, but with the rest of the decorations it fits perfectly in the atmosphere! I think it´s beautiful on a natural branch with silver glitter.

Afternoon

We were served afternoon tea with cucumber sandwiches and scones with clotted cream.

Peis

With a glass of champagne in front of the open fireplace – the afternoon was perfect!

Saape

In the suite we had nice toiletries from L Óccitane.

Occitane

 Which gave a luxury feeling!

Romutsikt

What a nice view from our suite! To the left you see the window of the restaurant – which served us a lovely dinner that night.

Torsk

We started with cod in three variations. And even deep fried cod skin tasted delicious!

Foisgras

Followed by fois gras with cherry jelly.

Sjokreps

And delicious Norwegian langoustine.

Kalv

Veal was the main course.

Dessert

And the dessert was Valhrona Chocolate mousse with beetroot ice cream. This was a new experience for us, light and tasty, and not so sweet as traditional ice cream. Thumbs up!
